The Stampol Crater Rim Trek is a challenging, off-the-beaten-path route inside Mount Rinjani National Park, offering an authentic mountain experience away from the crowded summit trails.

 

Reaching an elevation of 2,608 meters, the Stampol Crater Rim provides breathtaking views of Rinjani’s vast caldera, Segara Anak Lake, and dramatic volcanic landscapes. This trek is designed for experienced hikers who seek solitude, physical challenge, and raw natural beauty, without climbing Rinjani’s main summit.

Detailed Itinerary:

DAY 1 – Nangka Rempek Village → Stampol Crater Rim Camp

  • 07:00 – 08:00
    Arrival at Nangka Rempek Village, national park registration, safety briefing, and equipment check
  • 08:00 – 11:00
    Trekking through local plantations and village trails, calm and scenic surroundings
  • 11:00 – 12:00
    Enter pristine tropical rainforest, short breaks and snacks along the trail
  • 12:00 – 13:00
    Lunch break in the forest
  • 13:00 – 16:30
    Steep and challenging ascent to Stampol Crater Rim
    (The most demanding section, requiring strong endurance and focus)
  • 16:30 – 18:00
    Arrival at the crater rim, campsite setup, and sunset views over the caldera
  • 18:30 – 19:30
    Dinner at the campsite
  • 19:30 – Overnight
    Rest and overnight camping
    (Night temperature approx. 8–10°C)

DAY 2 – Sunrise Experience → Descent → Nangka Rempek Village

  • 05:30 – 06:30
    Sunrise at Stampol Crater Rim, free time for photos and scenery
  • 06:30 – 07:30
    Breakfast at the campsite
  • 07:30 – 08:00
    Pack up and prepare for descent
  • 08:00 – 12:00
    Descent via an alternative route through rainforest and mountain trails
    (Short breaks and snacks along the way)
  • 12:00 – 13:00
    Lunch break
  • 13:00 – 14:00
    Return to Nangka Rempek Village
    Trek completion
